Death is one of the great inevitabilities of life. Everybody dies. And shamans know that death is but a sacred transition into a life after life.
But in Western culture, we often demonize this transition, avoiding open discussion of it, miserably attempting to cling to fading youth, and hoping that if we ignore death, death will ignore us.
Or perhaps worse, we deprioritize the very lives of our fellow human beings, wielding modern means to maim, gun down, or blow up massive numbers of persons at once - all while ignorant to the reality that not every soul who dies a tragic death is truly at rest.
This gravely pale approach has resulted in myriad challenges, including the dying facing their final days mired in fear, their living loved ones unsure of how to help or left with unhealed anger or unending grief, wandering souls of the deceased who haunt the spaces of the living and pose the threat of possession illness, and beyond.
Thankfully, the shaman has ancient solutions for our contemporary problems. In this timely and sacred training, originated by world-renowned psychotherapist and shamanic teacher Sandra Ingerman, MA, we will explore the healing of the dying, the haunting deceased, and our own relationship with death - and thus, with life itself.
In our weekend away from daily life, you will discover:
- How the shaman views death - what it is, its types and cosmology, and why some souls remain here after it’s all over,
- The shamanic practice of psychopomp - conducting the souls of the dying, the dead, the haunting, and the possessing,
- Addressing your own issues around death so as to become healthier - and a more effective deathwalker,
- Meeting your psychopomp spirit guide who will aid you closely in your deathwork,
- A classic initiation of dropping the body and ego - as one does in death - and the ineffable healing that comes with it,
- Helping to alleviate the fears of the dying, working with their families, and teaching them to journey to access their own comfort, curing, and brilliant transitory help,
- How to shift your words when speaking with non-shamanic patients and families,
- Healing unfinished business with the departed - both for yourself, and facilitating this for clients,
- Exploring firsthand the territories that you will travel to after your own death,
- Safely and effectively crossing departed wandering souls into the healing light of the Beyond,
- A group psychopomp ceremony for addressing mass-casualty situations - both past and present,
- and so much more.
This workshop, open to six experienced shamanic journeyers, places a focus on exploring the incredible realms of death and the afterlife in a safe and loving community container. It is especially suitable for those looking to heal their own relationship with death and expand their knowledge of shamanism and shamanic healing; for hospice workers, death doulas, and other healing practitioners looking to gather further tools for helping and healing others; and for spiritual healers of many kinds and paranormal investigators interested healing both the living and the dead by freeing our world of stuck souls. Each day of our weekend “retreat” contains regular movement breaks, experiential exercises, Q&A, and incredible shamanic wisdom for healing and personal empowerment.
Death will come for each of us someday. It is better to embrace our old friend with a healthy, prepared heart, and knowledge that we can use to powerfully aid ourselves, our loved ones, and our clients. Ultimately, the focus of this advanced program is healing - through profound explorations into the cosmology of the after-death realms, healing your fears about death, counseling the dying, and crossing souls stuck in the world of the living, we not only shift personal and cultural consciousness about death as a sacred rite of passage, but we open the door to step into greater relationship with - and a higher and healthier experience of - life.
